I got on the website around 11:30pm and the sale was ending at midnight, so I bought it on a whim and I am SO glad that I did! Also FREE shipping and no tax! Who doesn't love that? You should also check out the booties I am wearing. They are like 6 inches and the MOST comfortable booties I own. Also, so reasonably priced!

I wore this ensemble to to David Nail's CD release party last night with SB, so it was fresh on my mind when selecting outfits to shoot this morning. Of course the weather wasn't cooperating (read: monsoon), but as I've said before you just can't keep a trendy girl down. At least I had an appropriate necklace for the occasion. 

For a lot of people wearing black and brown together is a big no-no, but I love it. Neutrals on neutrals on neutrals. When I first saw these photos I was upset that I forgot to get a shot of the gorgeous back of this shirt. Leaves some mystery for next time.

Still a 90s Girl

I would say this outfit is a little reminiscent of the 90s with the tied up shirt and all. Anyone have a fanny pack I can borrow to complete the look? Anyway, this clutch is another gem given to me by my grandmother. Clearly, having access to her accessories is really working out for me. Trendy must be a genetic thing. Now that its November, I've been pairing this ensemble with a faux fur vest and tights. Come to think of it, I've been attempting to pair everything with fur.. 

In other news, I'll be traveling back to my hometown in Middle Tennessee this weekend for one of my favorite events of the year: Christmas Village. My mom and I have been attending every year since I was about 11, and as usual I can't wait! Expect loads of pictures, my little elves.

Hipster Cowboy

After I put this outfit on I was on the phone with LB and I was describing to her my outfit and for some reason I said, "I am dressed like a hipster cowboy." I think the cowboy part is largely because of my Tennessee roots and the denim vest and the hipster part I am crediting to the shirt and the fact that I am an art major. This denim vest was a staple in my wardrobe over the summer and I am sure it will be a part of my fall wardrobe as well. However, I have taken major slack for the vest many times. Once a friend told me it looked like something his mom would wear. I obviously replied, "Your mom must be very trendy."

DIY: Glitter Boots

The second I saw this Glitter Boot DIY (originally here) I knew that I had to make them! I love glitter almost as much as I love cheetah. Although I must say, the title of this post should be "See SB make a Mess". The floor of my apartment is now covered in gold glitter. I am actually really enjoying the new glitter finish on our floor, but if you ask my roommate she might have a different opinion (yeah, right). Okay, on to the DIY!

Step One: Gather the Supplies

1. Boots - I used these Old Navy boots largely because I paid a whopping $13 for them, so I wasn't afraid to mess them up.

2. Glitter and lots of it! I used two sizes of glitter and mixed them together - I don't think this is necessary though because the larger glitter took over.

3. Fabric Glue - I used one that said it would work on leather since the boots I used are faux leather.

4. Paint Brush - I just used this to paint the glue on to the boot, so it would be applied more evenly.

5. Newspaper - Obviously I only had magazines so I used that instead, but newspaper is a better option.

Simple as That: You're Finished!

You can now marvel at your beautiful creation! You might want to leave them to dry for a while because I think the glitter might shed!

 These were really fun to make and I cannot wait to wear them! I think I am going to pair them with skinny jeans and a simple, cream top, so the focus is on the boots! This could also be done with silver glitter on gray boots...Old Navy has the exact boots I used in gray too! Have fun!!

Sketchy in the City

Pre-yesterday's Business Meeting (see below) LB and I wandered around the Old City taking these pictures and attempting to find a new, fun location for the meeting. While walking around some really interesting things happened, but my favorite had to be the intoxicated, homeless couple that asked if we would take their picture. We promptly left and and made our way to our regular Sunday Funday location. Why were we trying to abandon the $2 margaritas anyway?

Versatility

When I bought this skirt at Banana Republic a few weeks ago, I was dying for cooler weather because unfortunately October in Tennessee usually means lows in the 70's. I was determined to adapt this skirt to the warmer weather without making it look too summery. I was also wanting a more casual, everyday use for the skirt and the military jacket was my solution. I am honestly really surprised at the versatility of this sequined skirt. I cannot wait to wear it with black tights and black booties (weather permitting) for a dressier look!


Also, I never find cute shoes at Gap, but while I was in NYC this summer (visiting the other writer of The Trendy) I found these. I love them because they are a fun alternative to classic nude heels. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Gap always has the most ridiculous sales so they were a steal! I had to throw the scarf on...because what's an outfit without a little cheetah?
